Updates – Type Descriptions

Type

Definition/Inclusions

Market

  • Refers to any information regarding the market space including market share, market dynamics, trends, competitive strategy, what led to revenue growth/loss, etc.
  • Specific Module/Segment commentary on revenues that contains more than just the numbers (that Tommy covers during earnings season), for example, XYZ’s Spine Business Q323 revenue of $XXMM was led by new product launches and increased product pull through from enabling technologies.

Revenues

  • Revenue updates refer to information released by a company regarding quarterly and annual revenues.
  • These updates are “just the numbers and growth rates” with no additional commentary or market insights into “why” the numbers/growth are what they are.

New Products

  • New Product updates refer to new product launches, planned launches, products under development and new product enhancements. A description of the new product or product enhancements is included in the update, along with a timeframe for expected launch if the product is still under development.

Deals/Financing

  • Deals refer to acquisitions, distribution agreements, mergers, licensing agreements, and any type of strategic partnership between companies.

Clinical/Regulatory

  • Clinical updates include information on IDE/PMA studies, specifically studies that are listed on clinicaltrials.gov.
  • Regulatory updates refer to FDA approvals and clearances, regulatory approvals outside the US (CE Mark, etc.) and product recall. This can also include information on when a company expects to receive regulatory clearance/approval.

Patents

  • US Patents and Patent Applications

Reimbursement

  • Updates relating to reimbursement codes, amounts, changes, etc.

Announcements

  • Announcements are reserved for personnel changes (e.g., new CEO or VP Business Development), new or expanded facilities or other top level company information that does not fit into the other categories.

Studies

  • Studies updates refer to peer-reviewed journal articles, papers/posters/presentations at industry conferences/symposia, etc.
